About Kara

Kara Rosenlund is a well recognised Australian female fine art photographer, stylist and author, who has a photographic print shop and lifestyle brand, influenced by the beauty of the natural world and the island she lives on.
Her photographic work reflects her sentimental eye for all things nostalgic and heartwarming, and the beauty of the everyday, in which she has a deep affection.

Kara is drawn to the nuances of the Australian bush and coastlines of our vast land. She loves nothing more than photographing out in the field, being lead by natural light and the landscape. These experiences inspire her limited edition print collections and accompanying lifestyle pieces which she creates and wears each day.

At home, weekends are spent with her two young children and husband Timothy O in their 1970’s A-Frame island home surrounded by nature on Minjerribah, Stradbroke Island.

On the mainland Kara works from her Brisbane studio, bringing new print collections to life, while slowly renovating their family home, a mid century house with strong brutalist lines.

Kara’s first interiors book Shelter – was published by Lantern, an imprint of Penguin Random House. It’s a very special book which took her on a year long road trip through Australia, seeking out and documenting Australian authentic homes and landscapes.

Her second book Weekends – is a personal celebration of the quintessential spirit of summer in Australia, set within her island home and surrounding landscape of Stradbroke Island.

Kara’s photographic work has been exhibited throughout Australia and abroad, with pieces held in many public and private art collections, including most notably a solo exhibition at the Sydney Opera House. Most recently, her portraits of ocean conservationist Valerie Taylor illuminated the Sydney Opera House for World Ocean Day.

The landscape and it’s animals are always close to Kara’s heart and during the devastating Australian bushfires in January 2020 she raised and donated over $200,000.00 to help care for injured fire affected koalas.
Kara Rosenlund’s limited edition photographic prints are available exclusively in her online shop.
